Technical Manager (Ready Mix)

LOFT Contracting LLC is urgently hiring an experienced Technical Manager to lead our R&D, Quality Control, and Technical Operations. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in concrete technology, mix designs, material science, and production optimization within the Ready Mix industry.

Role Overview

The Technical Manager will oversee all technical, R&D, and QC activities within the Ready Mix plant. This includes developing new concrete mixes, ensuring strict quality control, addressing production issues, improving operational efficiency, and leading a team of technical professionals. The role demands a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and innovative individual with deep knowledge of concrete materials and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead research and development of new concrete mix designs, including high-performance, self-compacting, sustainable, and specialty concretes.
• Evaluate new raw materials, admixtures, fibers, and additives for performance enhancement.
• Conduct lab trials, field trials, and performance studies on innovative materials and technologies.
• Implement stringent QC & QA procedures aligned with ASTM, ACI, BS, and local municipality specifications.
• Oversee routine and advanced testing of concrete, aggregates, cement, admixtures, and fresh/ hardened properties.
• Monitor batching accuracy, moisture corrections, slump control, temperature control, and durability parameters.
• Conduct root-cause analysis of quality issues, rejections, or customer complaints.
• Work closely with Production Managers, Plant Managers, and Batch Plant Operators to ensure consistent quality during batching.
• Provide troubleshooting for production challenges such as variability in materials, inconsistency in workability, or mix failures.
• Recommend adjustments to mix designs based on site conditions, temperature variations, or client requirements.
• Improve mix designs for cost efficiency, performance enhancement, and sustainability.
• Optimize raw material usage without compromising quality.
• Implement process improvements to reduce waste, minimize rejections, and enhance plant productivity.
• Lead, mentor, and train QC Engineers, Lab Technicians, Mix Designers, and R&D teams.
• Monitor team performance, ensure adherence to procedures, and maintain a high level of technical competency within the department.
• Conduct regular technical training for internal teams and production staff.
• Attend technical meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Provide technical submittals, documentation, and mix design approvals.
• Ensure compliance with Dubai Municipality, RTA, Trakhees, and other regulatory authorities.

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Concrete Technology, Construction Materials Engineering, or related fields.

Experience

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in Ready Mix Concrete industry.
• Strong background in mix design development, R&D, QC processes, and plant support.
• Experience with high-specification projects (infrastructure, high-rise, marine, or special concretes) is a plus.

Technical Expertise

Advanced understanding of:

• Concrete mix designs (normal, high-performance, SCC, lightweight, and special concretes)
• Raw material characterization and performance evaluation
• Fresh and hardened concrete testing procedures
• ASTM, ACI, BS, and municipality-specific codes
• Proficiency with concrete mix design and QC software (e.g., Command QC, Betonlab, Sigmat, or similar).
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret testing data.
