Sr. Planning Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Sr. Planning Engineer with 15+ years of proven experience in architecture and engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring within large-scale consultancy or construction environments in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

This role requires technical expertise, leadership capability, and a strong ability to coordinate and oversee project planning activities to ensure successful and timely delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar planning tools.
• Monitor project progress and identify potential delays or risks, recommending corrective measures to maintain schedule integrity.
• Coordinate with project teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment of planning objectives with project goals.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and milestone reports for senior management, including progress updates, earned value analysis, and forecast adjustments.
• Review and validate contractor schedules, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and project specifications.
• Lead schedule workshops, risk assessments, and project review meetings.
• Mentor junior planning engineers, providing guidance on best practices in planning, scheduling, and project management.
• Ensure integration of planning processes with cost control, resource allocation, and quality management.
• Support management in decision-making related to project timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.

Qualifications & Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PSP, Primavera P6 Certification) highly desirable.

Experience & Background

• 15+ years of professional experience in planning and scheduling for Architecture/Engineering Consultancy or large-scale construction projects.
• Proven experience in UAE-based projects, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
• Exposure to multi-disciplinary projects involving Architecture, MEP, Civil, and Structural Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles, scheduling techniques, and industry-standard tools.

Skills & Competencies

• Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and related scheduling tools; understanding of critical path method (CPM) and earned value management (EVM).
• Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate planning teams across multiple projects.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze schedules, identify risks, and develop mitigation plans.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying issues and proposing solutions to keep projects on track.
• Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy and compliance of all planning documents and reports.
• Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
• Teamwork & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Candidate Requirements

• Must currently be based in the UAE.
• Immediate joiners preferred.
• Proven track record with Architecture/Engineering consultancy firms in the UAE.
• Strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and relevant professional qualifications.
