Rotating Equipment Engineer (Oil & Gas)

ALCHEMY is seeking a highly experienced Rotating Equipment Engineer to support Oil & Gas operations in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in rotating equipment maintenance, inspection, and reliability engineering within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Chemical sectors.

Position Overview

The Rotating Equipment Engineer will be responsible for planning, supervising, and executing maintenance activities for a wide range of rotating machinery. The role requires technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and hands-on experience in offshore environments.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Inspection

  • Plan, prepare, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance for rotating equipment.
  • Conduct mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Perform time-based inspections, breakdown maintenance, and reliability improvement tasks.
  • Supervise major overhauls, repairs, and retrofitting activities.

Rotating Equipment Expertise

  • Work on equipment including: Reciprocating compressors, Centrifugal pumps and blowers, Gas turbine generators & auxiliaries, Diesel engines and generators & Other industrial rotating machinery
  • Lead installation, commissioning, and operational readiness of rotating equipment.
  • Review vendor data sheets, technical designs, RFQs, and TBE documents.
  • Specify rotating equipment suitable for offshore applications.

Technical & Engineering Support

  • Develop technical specifications, equipment data sheets, and QA/QC standards.
  • Propose spare parts packages based on criticality and lifecycle analysis.
  • Conduct equipment test runs and evaluate performance and efficiency.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and improvement initiatives.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and ADNOC-related specifications.
  • Maintain accurate technical reports, maintenance logs, and inspection records.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.
  • Interpret machinery curves, P&IDs, isometric drawings, cause-and-effect charts, and equipment cross-sections.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas projects.
  • Strong experience in rotating equipment maintenance, inspection, and reliability.
  • Hands-on experience working with ADNOC group companies is a strong advantage.
  • Expertise in preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, retrofits, and overhauls.
  • Knowledge of offshore rotating equipment applications and lifecycle costing.
  • Proficiency in evaluating vendor documentation, specifications, and technical bids.
  • Ability to read machinery curves, efficiency calculations, and performance data.
  • Basic working knowledge of instrumentation related to machinery (vibration monitoring, ESD, DCS, etc.).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong mechanical and analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent understanding of safety standards and plant permit systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work under offshore rotational schedules.
  • High level of technical accuracy, responsibility, and commitment toward equipment integrity.
